Regarding the film industry in the United States (US), the industry is tremendously developing hugely because of technological innovations. Despite the film industry being developed in the US, filmmakers face challenges in the production of films. To better understand the US's film industry, a film can be categorized as either independent (indie film) or mainstream film. The categorization of films based on the above categories is based on the financial resource in film production. Defying mainstream films require vast sums of money to produce and achieve profits. Mainstream films, just as the name suggests, are being offered for sale at popular movie stores. Films coming from Bollywood and Hollywood are regarded to be mainstream and can be termed as blockbusters. On the contrary, Maverick exists in filmmaking. Maverick filmmaking, which is independent in its production, is popularly referred to as independent film (indie movie or indie film). Maverick films, in many instances, are short films with production carried out by a major film production studio.
