Non-state actors are having an abnormally significant impact on global affairs. The number of intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations and multinational enterprises has exploded in the second part of the twentieth century, paralleling the growth of international organizations. The United States Organization for International Development (USAID) is a government department that administers civilian international human rights and humanitarian aid. This paper discusses how USAID as a development agency is involved in the politics of development.
USAID Main Goal
Building sustainable democracies are one of USAID's six strategic goals, both as a goal in and of itself and an essential component of fostering long-term development. The formation of independent organizations, fair trading, knowledgeable and educated people, a thriving public society, and a state-society relationship that supports pluralism, participation, and peaceful dispute resolution are all ways to attain this aim (AboElsoud, 2018). Democracy promotion is a long-term process that will need ongoing commitment and timely and politically astute initiatives. According to USAID, political party development aid is critical to creating and maintaining democratic societies worldwide.
The organization of political parties in democratizing countries across the globe has been a priority for USAID and its implementing partners. The growth of democratic political parties' organizational skills contributes to the long-term aims of democratic progress. Political representation, political leadership, and citizen mobilization are all performed by organized and institutionalized political parties. When political parties perform these responsibilities, they help voters make informed decisions, shape policy debates and sustain political stability in transitional countries.
