DHS has struggled with a variety of challenges to keep its mission of keeping America from another terrorist attack after the 9/11 catastrophic attack. It has also managed to coordinate with its different operational components towards this objective. However, its success has not been without challenges. With less budget, the Department is as crossroads with a wide range of threats that it must address. Cutting its budgetary expenses has affected the implementation risk-based security models that are aimed at mitigating any threats in the country.
