The American society has been experiencing some traumatic events in the recent years. The society has experienced some significant pressure that are showing in the form of outbursts where citizens take matters into their own hands.There have been a number of times that citizens have used their gun rights to commit acts of violence. There have been several mass shootings in the United States all of which have claimed lives. However, the most memorable was that one that took place in Orlando this year. Before sunrise 50 people were dead and more than 53 persons were trapped. This has been ranked as the deadliest shooting that has ever taken place in the American history. The gunman, a twenty-nine-year-old Omar Mateen, had opened fire at a gay night club, killing indiscriminately. By the time the SWAT responded, 50 revelers and bystanders were dead (Klarevas, 2016). After a shootout with the SWAT, Omar was then killed. This was not before he had taken life and pledged his allegiance to the terrorist group known as the Islamic State. Of importance are the mass shootings that have been taking place within the schools. Over the past the US has been known for school shootings, where students that are unhappy with the system vent their anger towards the system that they feel is broken. As such, there is need to evaluate the underlying causes which lead to some of these vile outbursts that claim lives and leave behind scars.
Thesis statement: the social order in America requires to be reevaluated to ascertain the true causes of the mass shootings in the society and how best this problem can be brought under control.
Following the mass shooting that have taken up until 2015, the president opened the year 2016 with a public announcement, where he vowed to make sure that he worked on pushing for policies that would increase the level of background checks on gun licenses. By the start of this year there were an estimated 372 shootings and an estimated 475 lives had been lost to these acts. More than 1870 had been wounded in the process (Klarevas, 2016). The school shooting on the other hand were an estimated 54 in number by the start of this year. However, this includes incidences, where a gun was fired without anyone being shot dead or injured in the incidence. What is more important to note, is the definition of a mass shooting. Ideally, a mass shooting has to involve more than four people having been killed or injured plus the assailant in question. This means that there are more shooting than the estimated figure quoted above (Klarevas, 2016).
