Introduction
There emerge a lot of variations of the justice system which tries the adults and the juveniles. The big question has been whether minors who commit violent crimes, be tried in an adult court system. For instance, juvenile courts have no juries as well as trials by the jury. Notably, in adult courts, sentences are harsher, and the probability of being let free with only counseling sessions are gaunt. The regularity through which young adults below eighteen years commit crimes has been on the increase for some time thus calling for rigorous discussions on the topic which is a sensitive issue for many.
Thesis: Juveniles should be tried as adults in the court system since grievous crimes they commit are not lessened by the age of the offenders
According to Pimentel (2013), violent crimes by juveniles which are preventable are like a plague, yet they are rarely punished due to the age of the offenders. Since they get protection from archaic and very lenient juvenile justice system, vicious youths have realized the loophole to the system and are constantly taking advantage of the of the inherent benefits of the laws thus running rampantly in the societies. It has become a norm to see high-profile killings on local news, and periodically, calamity strikes losing huge numbers of people at the mercies of the juveniles. Moreover, it is more sadly to persist losing additional lives to the hardened juveniles and the repetitive law breakers since more second chances are allowed to them for not being legal adults. It is known that some young offenders think that they would not face the consequences of their crimes as they are not adults.
A lot of juvenile court rulings have resulted in nothing except only insignificant punishments to the juveniles. Myers (2016) opines that the juvenile courts lack the capacity to provide a personalized attention which is initially sought out to do and also can not any more effortlessly assist the at-risk delinquents who are considered threats way after their sentences. The fundamental laws developed dealt with minor cases like vandalism, shoplifting, and truancy. Such laws are becoming ancient since they lack the capacity to cater the present day violent crimes. Tougher measures are meant to combat more terrible crimes. The rehabilitation centers have a low or even no impact on the youths. Also, the counselors assigned to deal with the juveniles are less equipped with the necessary experience and also lacks the expertise to counter their actions. For a few juveniles, rehab becomes the easy mode out. Ultimately, many juveniles going through the system are not rehabilitated and therefore return to criminal ways. In some jurisdiction, a young person is allowed to commit up to fifteen severe crimes before any step is taken on them, Myers (2016). With an absence of a tougher system of punishment, the society experiences increased the number of felons and an increasing rate of victims of crime. The court system refuses to punish the young lawbreakers since they are supposedly too young to comprehend the magnitude of their wrongdoing.
For a lot of victims, ...
