There are different governmental school thoughts used in modern politics. They explain various moral concepts applied in the political arena in our society. The political ideologies enable us to determine our political relationship with the state and the society. Various philosophers postulated theories to support their schools of thought. Some agreed on liberalism while others settled on either conservatism or socialism ideologies.
John Locke versus Thomas Hobbes Contribution on Liberalism
The two individuals were both English theorists who braced liberalism. Hobbes developed the social contrary model which postulates that there are set guidelines which direct ethics and citizens will admit them if everybody in the society support the rules. John Locke supported the Hobbes theory and further construed the link between the citizen and their government. Hobbes and Locke supported a nation which exercises fairness and gives its citizen the freedom to exercise their right (Thomas, 2014).
However, Hobbes and Locke differed in that; Hobbes supported dictatorship in an independent nation, while Locke maintained the creation a government that is subject to its citizens. In addition, Locke suggested revolution while Hobbes supported absolutism. Hobbes rejected the idea suggested by Locke on the need for power separation (Thomas, 2014).
Plato versus Aristotle Conservatism Philosophies
Both Plato and Aristotle contributed to the conservatism philosophy. They both agreed that unique skills determine good governance. They both acknowledge the existence of mankind, and need for justice in an ideal state. They both view democracy as the worst leadership style.
