Poverty especially absolute poverty found in developing countries can be eradicated. This is because statistics show that progress is being made towards eradicating poverty. Data from 1982 shows that people who were living on less than 1.90 dollars per day has reduced from 42.2 percent to 10.7 percentage today (Tupy, 2017). Many countries have been able to embrace economic reforms that have lifted millions of people from extreme poverty.
Further, poverty can be eradicated because even in Sub-Saharan Africa where poverty levels have always been high, there has been great improvement in other measures of human well-being. For example, improvement in numbers of people receiving education, healthcare, and quality food. Other improvements include reductions in mortality rates and improvement in life expectancy. If this progress continues, poverty could be eradicated in future (Tupy, 2017).
