Technology has been termed the great equalizer because people from all walks of life can now access and contribute to anything through technology. Technology has rolled out even to remote areas of the world, reducing the gap between people in such areas and the rest of the world. However, there still exists a digital divide in the world. This is because there is still a lot of inequality in the society (The Intercept, n.d.). There are those individuals in the upper class, in terms of socioeconomic class, who will most likely be at a great advantage when it comes to digital access over those in the lower bracket. The same is the case with the educated against the less educated and also the urban areas against the less urbanized ones. For example, some areas in the remote parts of Alaska might not have the proper infrastructure to support either phone or internet connectivity. This, therefore, greatly disadvantages them compared to people in towns such as Toronto or Vancouver.
