Film Reflection #2:

Evolution vs. Creation: The Never-Ending Battle

Watch the film at the following link:

https://youtu.be/9IAlgv5sqTI

57:31

The conflict between Evolution and Creationism is an old topic that continues to be an issue in our society today. It involves the debate on how human beings and other prehistoric animals were created, and how they evolved.

Charles’s Darwin’s Theory of Evolution claimed human beings evolved from other lower life forms. He asserted that human beings had changed to survive their environment. This idea is also known as the Survival of the Fittest.

The religious counter to Darwin’s theory is the idea of creation; that God created human beings in his likeness.

According to a recent Gallup poll, there are three camps Americans generally fall in when it comes to expressing their views on creation:

1) 42 percent believe that God created human beings in their present form.

2) 31 percent believe mankind evolved, but with God guiding the process.

3) 19 percent believe humans evolved without the Lord’s guidance.

So, 73 percent of the nation believe God played a role in creation.

The conflict between science and faith has been going on for centuries. It especially heated up since Darwin’s theory was first published in 1859. This conflict has increased throughout the 20th and 21st centuries, as science has become more accepted throughout the world.

This film deals with this conflict in the present day, and looks at the experiences of young people, entering college, that find their faith challenged by gaining an education. In some cases, their parents view their education as a threat to their faith. These young people find themselves caught in the middle of this complicated conflict.

Perhaps you have had a similar experience, or know somebody who has? What do you feel about the ideas shown in the film? Do you struggle with these issues?

I realize this can be a sensitive subject for people, so please rest assured that your submission will only be seen by me, and the other students in the class will not have access to it.

This assignment is a personal reflection that will not be shared with anyone. If you disagree with any of it, that certainly is your right. But give me some valid reasons WHY you disagree!

PLEASE!!! Do not simply retell me the story; I already know it very well. Tell me how the film influenced YOU! Was there information that you learned that you did not previously know? Did the film tell a different story than the one you learned in high school?

How did this film affect you emotionally AND intellectually?

Your paper needs to EXCEED 2 pages!! One and 7/8 pages will be considered short of the minimum.

Summary of chapter 7: Training and Development
Training is a big business that makes up to 3% of America’s economy. It is a process of learning new skills, attitudes, and skills vital for the improvement of performance in an organization. Depending on how a person behaves during training, there are always three different levels of the outcome. The first one is the cognitive outcome, which refers to declarative knowledge, second is the skill-based outcome, which shows how much technical skill one has acquired and lastly affective outcome, which shows a person’s attitude and generally how they behave (Landy & Conte, 2016)
Different organizations train their employees for different reasons including orienting new employees, training to create sexual harassment awareness, team training among others. But before training commences there are factors and steps to consider. Training needs analysis is one of them. One must first analyze the situation to determine why training is needed, what kind of training and who should be trained. The organization also has to do self-analysis to ascertain the need for training (Landy & Conte, 2016) This shows how much the organization is prepared, whether it has the relevant resources for training. It also ensures that the planned training is in line with the organization’s goals as well as determining whether there is a favorable environment for training.
An organization should also analyze the task to know what skills will be impacted by the employees so that they perform to the maximum. Person analysis should also be done. This helps the organization to know who among the employees need to undergo training and spell what kind of training they need. The specific weaknesses of the employees are pinpointed and addressed here. Competencies must be outlined to determine who needs to be trained among the employees (Landy & Conte,2016).
It is of great importance too to outline the characteristics of the trainees as a way of preparing for the actual training. These are factors that are likely to affect the learning process. One of them is the readiness of the trainee. Trainees to be very read...
