Bruce’s line of reasoning has this flaw because he read the three chapters repeatedly, he is guaranteed to pass the exam. In essence, he is justifying the truth of the parts to fit the whole. This is the fallacy of composition, which is overwhelming Bruce. This assertion arises because there is the possibility that the exam demanded a greater level of connection among the three topics beyond Bruce’s capabilities.
Chances are that Bruce failed to read to understand the content. In this case, he merely perused pages disregarding the need for underlying concepts in the syllabus. His failure could also be predicated on his lower emotional intelligence. In this regard, Bruce could have found the exam to be challenging at the very first sight of it. Instead of maintaining calm that would help him figure how to handle the paper, his mind becomes restlessness leading to worry and consequently, failure to provide well-thought answers.
Finding the most appropriate conflict resolution approach would come in handy in this situation. The two parties have significant concerns that need to be addressed. Therefore, the collaborating approach becomes the most effective conflict resolution in this case. Its primary objective is to create a win-win situation for everyone involved (Lawless & Trif, 2016).
