Romantic Red Revisited
Article 1: Romantic Red Revisited: Red Enhances Men's Attraction to Young, but Not Menopausal Women
Schwarz & Singer’s article (2013) on the effect of the color red’s attraction of men to young women was reviewed in the past assignments and was deemed replicable but not significantly useful. While there are faults in the study, the research was replicable because the methods used were simple, from sampling to data gathering. It is a generalization mode study, and this affected the types of validities prioritized because it set the entire theme of the study. By considering a vague or unspecific demographic for the participants, the generalizations made were anchored on construct, internal, and external validity rather than statistical. However, because the study was deemed invalid, the findings of the study may not be helpful as it was not able to generalize the results well for a given demographic. Thus, the study may be important based on its goals and initial hypothesis, but a different approach should have been taken to gather data so that the research will be important and instrumental to advancing further research on the topic.
