Initial attempts focused on emerging independence while later theories focused on descriptive analysis of adolescents, defining their nature through a correlation with the society of the time when they reached the adolescent period.
In the above analysis, address the negative perception of adolescents by philosophers, psychologists and sociologists. Are adolescents negatively stereotyped with reason or are they merely and positively searching for identity?

The adolescence period is marked by the significant transformation in all the aspects concerning the children, including their physical, cognitive, social, and emotional states, as manifested in their growth and development. All of them will develop with the same characteristics based on a scientific process (American Psychological Association, 2002). However, the challenges encountered during this transformation place them in an uncontrollable situation where they have to respond deviously (Erwin, 2022). The changes are associated with negative stereotypical ideations with support from literature-based gathered by philosophers, sociologists, and psychologists.
The term “adolescence” was already coined during the Ancient Greek period. Specifically, Plato and Aristotle mentioned that this period is marked by the beginning of reasoning. Aristotle personally wrote that this is the age of vulnerability for the children born in clean slates, making them dauntless. Furthermore, since these miniature adults have previously experienced cruel reality, they become easily corruptible, and the clean slate rapidly turns into obnoxious reasoning. Additionally, the youth are expressive and confident with their actions despite the lack of experience, which is critical in forming holistic comprehension of life processes. The early philosophers had stereotyped adolescents not just by mere speculation but by observing the youth’s actions and conglomerating all the knowledge into one understandable concept. Many researchers have believed this from the 1990s until now (Hansen et al., 2021).
