Personality Name Institution Personality Describing what it means to be a “person” varies from individual to individual. Thus, every person has an opinion on what personhood. In my opinion, to be a person means to be in a physical, intellectual and emotional state that is uniquely based on individual characteristics. To be a person means that we have a personal identity that sets us aside from others, whether through our behaviors, attitude or beliefs. These individual characteristics are what motivate us, inform our beliefs and behaviors, and influence our perception of life in general. Being a person is having the ability to make inferences, reason and have a conscious. This is what enables a person to be moral and to be able to distinguish between right and wrong. To be a person also means that we are able to make decisions that affect both our lives and those of others. Thus, being a person means that we have control of our lives because we have a unique set of characteristics that make us special and as such, we can be able to pursue happiness and dreams using those characteristics. It means that we are responsible for our actions. For instance, in order to understand the personality of any given individual, asking them to describe themselves would reveal their personality. The self-description provided by an individual reveals what things are important to them, what drives them, what beliefs they hold and ultimately, how they derive meaning from the world around them.
