The Occupation Employment Statistics (OES) survey provides an estimate of the average wage rate of employees in different non-farm occupations in the U.S. The average wage rate in Florida ranges from $9.17 to $31.35 per hour for sales associates and registered nurses respectively, although there are other specialists such as oral surgeons who earn $138.68 per hour (bls.gov, 2018). In Florida, there are 8,419,030 people who are employed. Across the entire occupations, the median and mean hourly wage rates are $16.07 and $21.53 respectively, while the annual mean wage is $44,790. Workers are categorized by the OES coding system into distinct groups such as management, legal, healthcare, business, and construction occupations.
The median and mean hourly wage rate of management occupations is $45.53 and $53.85 while that of business occupations is $29.05 and $32.98 respectively. Computer occupations have a median and mean hourly wage rate of $34.46 and $36.74 respectively, while that of engineering occupations is $32.61 and $35.63 respectively (bls.gov, 2018).
