Gambling Addiction Video
Ryan's gambling addiction had undesirable effects on him and his friends. Not only did he lose much money, her roommate and friend, Sarah York, also notes that gambling was a struggle for him. As a friend, Sarah is impacted in the sense that she finds it hard seeing him struggle when he loses money in the casino. As a result, the friends tried to help him by suggesting alternative places they could hang out.
The DSM criteria for gambling from the lecture notes helped me understand better Ryan's addiction. Ryan meets at least five of the symptoms of persistent, recurrent pathological gambling.
