Requirements
Please submit a PDF of a cover letter that you have composed for a specific job that you have researched at an actual company. (The job must be related to Game Industry. For example: Game Designer, Level Designer, System Designer, Art Designer) Include in the PDF, after your cover letter, a screen cap or the text of the specific job description that you have written your cover letter for along with a link to the page for that posting. Posted jobs come and go, so we ask for a copy of the info rather than just a link by itself. Try to keep your cover letter to one page, but if you need to, you can spill over to a second.
Cover Letter Info
A cover letter is meant to compliment your resume, so it doesn't have to duplicate all of the information that is already in that document. Instead, it's a chance to give potential employers some insight into who you are as a person and why you are interested in this specific job at this specific company or organization.
Cover Letter Tips
If possible, it's better to address a cover letter to a specific person, usually a recruiter or hiring manager that you have interacted with.
Although this is a formal letter, using "dear" is fine. If you feel weird about it, you can just use the person's name and a comma. If you don't have a specific person to mail to, just use the contact specified in the job description. In this case you'd simply use "Recruiting" as your salutation.
If you do have some connection to this person, the opening paragraph is the place to spell it out. This is also the place to specify the one position you are applying for. Use the same job title they use in the job description. Some companies use job numbers as well. If there is a job number, put it in parentheses after the title like so: Production Assistant (job #1138). Human resource personnel use this information to put your application in the right pile. If you tell them you are interested in multiple positions, it's impossible to put your application in one bin…and it might go into a bin you don't want it to.
You should have a separate cover letter for each job/internship you apply for. The person reading your cover letter should be able to answer this question after reading it: Why did this person apply for this specific job at this specific place?
The body of the letter is where you briefly spell out your qualifications for this specific position. Use the job description as your guide. Try to cover the main qualifications while keeping your letter short. Cite specific examples rather than just saying "I'm a team player." in fact, try not to quote directly from the job description in your cover letter. Instead, tell them what you've done that meets their qualifications.
If a job lists specific tools that you are expected to know, you can mention how and where you have used them (if you have). If they don't specifically call out any tools, make an effort to find out what they do use.
Let them know when you expect to graduate and with what degree. If your degree title is not an exact match for the role you are applying for, explain how it relates to this position.
Don't forget to say thank you.

RE: Application for the Game Designer Position
Dear Recruiter,
When I started playing video games, I have always wanted to become a developer. It has been my dream to work with a leading company such as Lion Studios, renowned for the many games under its name on different app stores. I am pursuing a degree in Art & Design, Games and Playable Media at the University of California, Santa Cruz, and I expect to graduate in 2023.
With over three years of experience and practice in game designing, I have actively conceptualized, created game prototypes, and iterated and balanced features of different games. I have worked on four games available on the app stores including, Dream Catcher, Moon Rabbit, Below 0, and Venefica Venari. I can say that my years of experience have instilled a strong design cognizance and a sixth sense for game mechanics and flow. Besides, I am an ardent gamer across multiple genres with over 13 years of gaming experience. My most iconic achievements are a...
