Part 1. Complete one of the four bulleted tasks listed below. You have 8 minutes from the time you start to finish the task. Do not go over time and do not look up answers on the internet. You are welcome to complete your selected task alone. If you are able to safely interact with family or friends and wish to work with them on the task, please do so. Work interactively to complete Task A, take turns for Tasks B & C, or have all members of the group do Task D individually then compare answers. Use what you learn working alone or with others to respond to Part 2 & 3.
Task A. Using only 10 sheets of standard paper and three books (absolutely nothing else, no scissors, no tape, etc.), build the tallest tower you can. You can manipulate the sheets of paper, but the books must remain undamaged during this process. Take a photo of your tower to attach to this assignment. Give the height of your tower when you submit Part 2 & 3.
Task B. Look at this image and list as many explanations as you can for why this man is carrying a manikin across the street. Take a picture of your answers or submit them with Part 2 & 3. Identify how many of your answers you think are creative or humorous.
Task C. Name things that produce sound and what causes them to produce it. Take a picture of your answers or submit them with Part 2 & 3. Identify how many of your answers you think are creative or humorous.
Task D. Print or make a hand-drawn version of this page. Turn the circles into recognizable pictures, for example, you could add eyes and a mouth to turn one into a smiley face. Title each picture. Take a picture of the page to attach to this assignment. Identify how many of your answers you think are creative or humorous when you submit Part 2 & 3.
Part 2 {100 words}. Identify a problem-solving bias you encountered when working on the task. Provide a complete definition of the bias then describe when/how the problem-solving bias occurred, and describe why it was an example of that bias. Cognitive biases are described in Video 7.3, in textbook Section 7.3, or you can check out this page for a summary: 50 Cognitive Biases in the Modern World.
Part 3 {100 words}. Think about your problem-solving experience from the perspective of an intelligence researcher. Describe one theory of intelligence. Make sure to fully describe all the components of the the theory. So, for example if you want to relate creativity to your task completion, describe the Triarchic theory (all three components). The next step is to explain how you demonstrated that theory when completing the task. Intelligence theories are described in Video 7.4 and in textbook Section 7.4.

The bias evident in the experiment is hindsight bias. Hindsight bias happens when individuals believe that the event, they have experienced was predictable even though it was not. The hindsight bias occurred during the hand drawn exercise when I drew eyes and mouths on the cycles to turn them into smiley faces (OpenStax, 2022a). Though it was as if I knew what the outcome of the smiley would be, the picture depicts different moods, the final not obvious as previously thought. Therefore, the problem-solving bias I encountered was hindsight bias because the outcome of the drawing was predictable even though in the real sense it wasn't.
