Racial segregation is a dominant theme in 'Two American Families' and 'Separate and unequal.' The Films fall under the video categories of short films, and they contain intricate details about the characters' experiences. Themes such as education, racism, and poverty have been dominantly depicted in these stories. The creative directors behind the production of the films are Mary Robertson for ‘Separate and unequal’ and Tom Casciato for ‘Two American Families.’ Two American Families’ captures the everyday challenges experienced by middle-class families in America. While ‘Separate and Unequal’ describes the intensity of racial segregation in America. The two films are related since they both draw a contrast between the lives of blacks and white. Education as a theme reflects both stories since both directors try to establish the impact of learning in the lives of black and white families.
If St. George were established, then there would be significant social, economic, cultural, and racial consequences in Baton Rouge. There is a co-dependence system in Baton Rouge; therefore, the establishment of St George could adversely affect the whole system. Moreover, this move will lead to economic degradation in black communities. For instance, the schools outside St George could be affected since they depend on the funds gotten from paying taxes. There will be a lack of supplies for the schools, therefore low education quality such as schools. In return, these will lead to a lack of job opportunities for the students in those areas. Since there will be employment discrimination of the black community, they might face social impacts such as high poverty (Segal). Poverty is the cause of many criminal activities in such areas; some areas of baton rouge will have inadequate health facilities.
Racial segregation in the education system could have several cultural consequences (Segal). For instance, if students lack exposure to other cultures, they will not be able to adapt to new working environments. Moreover, either party shares a negative opinion about the other. The segregation will impede the ability to share cultures and ideas between parties of different races. However, if St. Georges was established, the more racial impact will be experienced.
