Assault and battery
Assault is often defined as an attempt to harm someone else and sometimes can include the issuance of threats or related behavior against other persons. Battery is also defined as a deliberately offensive touching of another person designed to inflict injury without their acquiescence. The Nevada statute chapter 200 of the crimes against the person; NRS 200.485 indicates that provoking an assault is a punishable offense by law (The People's Branch of Government, 2020). NRS 200.471 subsection 1 (a) defines assault as:
1 Unlawfully attempting to use physical force against another person; or
2 Intentionally placing another person in reasonable apprehension of immediate bodily harm.
NRS 200.481 Section 1 defines battery as:
* “Battery” means any willful and unlawful use of force or violence upon the person of another.
Penalties - NRS 200.485 Subsection 1 (a) states:
1 Imprisonment in the city or county jail or detention facility for not less than 2 days, but not more than 6 months; and
2 Perform not less than 48 hours, but not more than 120 hours, of community service.
On top of that, it adds, “the person shall be further punished by a fine of not less than $200, but not more than $1000.
Theft
The term theft is extensively employed to refer to offenses that involve the taking of someone's property without their permission. It is described as the unlawful taking of property from a person with the purpose to withhold. The components of theft include; taking of someone's property and the conscious intent to deprive the person of the property with no prospect of returning it.
The NRS 205.0832 enacts actions that consist of theft. Subsection 1 states that a person commits theft if, without lawful authority, the person knowingly:
* Controls any property of another person with the intent to deprive that person of the property.
* Convicts make an unauthorized transfer of an interest in, or without authorization controls any property of another person, or uses the services or property of another person entrusted to him or her or placed in his or her possession for a limited, authorized period
Penalties - NRS.08345 Subsection 1 states: a person who knowingly participates directly or indirectly in or engages in conduct with the intent to further organized retail theft is guilty of a category B felony and shall be punished by imprisonment in state prison for:
* If the aggregated value of property or services involved in all thefts committed is at least $3,500 but less than $10,000, a minimum term of not less than 1 year and a maximum of not more than 10 years, and by a fine of not more than $10,000.
* If the value of property or services involved is $10,000 or more, a minimum term of not less than 2 years and a maximum term of not more than 15 years, and by a fine of not more than $20,000.
