Biological and Psychological Changes in Emerging Adulthood
Based on Daniel Levinson’s eight stages of adult development, I am transitioning into emerging adulthood. In particular, this phase is accurate depending on my present life circumstances. For instance, some of the things in my mind are about finishing my studies, focusing on my career, developing my skills and capabilities, the decision whether I want marriage and children. However, I am more concerned about making my life better, fruitful and setting a strong financial foundation for middle and late adulthood.
The three primary mental health hazards and risks associated with emerging adulthood include psychological distress, chronic stress, and lower self-esteem. Specifically, emerging adulthood refers to a significant life period with numerous life transitions in an individual’s relationship, employment, education, and living arrangements that might generate psychological distress and stress (Matud, Diaz, Bethencourt, & Ibanez, 2020).
