It is more realistic and economical to remove unsuitable candidates for law enforcement than to find the ideal police personality. It will always be difficult to find suitable people with the right personalities to serve in the police service. However, it is simple, easy and possible to determine who is not suitable as candidates for law enforcement or police service. Here, the officers responsible for the recruitment of the candidates for law enforcement should consider and bear in mind the following questions that are going to be outlined below.
There are several questions that the recruiters need to administer to the candidates. They include: The recruiters should enquire from a candidate reasons why he/she makes him/her desire to work in the police service. They should also inquire from them about their strengths as well as their weaknesses (Hess et al., 2015). The candidates should also be able to give a short story relating to when some of their moral virtues such as integrity, honesty, and others were tested. The candidate should narrate what happened. The candidates should also talk about the knowledge they have about the police departments and community at large. The candidates should give reasons why they think they deserve to work in the police commission or service (Hess et al., 2015). The recruiters should desire to know the level of knowledge of the candidates and whether they have relevant skills. Last, the candidates should tell what they about the appropriate skills and virtues that a police officer should have.
It is essential to put into consideration the characteristics of an ideal police officer while administering the above questions. A police officer should have a good knowledge of both the state and federal laws and should respect them to the latter (Capps, 2014). The candidates should know and observe all the laws of the nation, both state and federal laws. The police officers should have common sense in that they should be able to think reasonably and critically. The law enforcement personnel should have a sense of ethics in that they should be able to do the right thing. This reciprocates that the police officers should have moral values and principles that guide them in doing the right thing. It is important for police officers to have good communication skills (Capps, 2014). This enables them to be diplomatic and can effectively have better relationships with the public. Finally, humility is an important virtue for police officers to have while undertaking their duties. This enables them to respect other people while undertaking their mandate.

Stress in law enforcement is especially experienced by the police officers during their various duties. Stress refers to an external force in nature that results in physical and emotional strain on the body. Police stress refers to the negative pressures and strains related to police work.
