Mitigation is defined as “Taking advanced actions to reduce or eliminate the long-term risks to
human life and property from hazards.” Structural mitigation is defined as risk reduction
achieved through construction, physical alteration, or application of engineering solutions. NonStructural Mitigation is defined as risk reduction through modification of human behavior that
occurs without construction.
For this paper, I would like you to focus on man-made hazard of vehicular attacks. For example,
last year the Toronto Van Attack that took place on along Yonge Street killing 10 persons is an
example of vehicular attack.

Vehicular Attacks Student`s Name Institutional Affiliation Introduction Human-made vehicular attacks are carried out by perpetrators who use vehicles to ram into buildings, crows, rallies causing a lot of injuries and death of people in that area. The act is done deliberately to cause harm to a particular targeted population. The action is deemed as a cowardly act done to intimidate the nation by creating fear. Vehicular attacks are carried out by using trucks, cars by people believed to belong to terrorist attacks. Over the years cars and truck attack on different nations of the world. The vehicular attacks that have happened in the U.S, Barcelona, etc. the well know terrorist groups like A-Qaeda, Hamas and ISIS have claimed full responsibility of all the attacks ("Vehicles as Weapons of Terror," 2019). They target high crowded areas like concerts, tourist areas, malls, etc. People who belong to terrorist groups plan vehicular attacks. Back in 2017, a member of the ISIS uploaded a video to the U.S Internet Archive on how they plan to carry out a ramming attack. The video’s included the New York City’s Times Square. The move by the terrorist group to indulge in spreading threats through the internet to intimidate the security council of different nations. The U.S has backed up and invested many funds to beef up security in different states and all the essential public places. Vehicular attacks have been carried out by a terrorist who most of them have not been able to join ISIS abroad. Terror attacks are made on the local Risk Associated with Vehicular Attacks The risk associated with vehicular assaults on the public is adverse. First, vehicles ramming others created fear to vehicle owners since you never know who is who on the streets. People are infringed with emotional fear of going for shopping centers, entertainment centers, sporting events (von Münchow & Hantschke, 2017), etc. The people in different parts of the world where these attacks have taken place causes emotional trauma to the victims and the surrounding crowd. The move by people makes business not thrive in main towns or areas prone by vehicular attacks. Another risk is the user associated with the vehicular assault is dead people. The different attacks in different countries have caused many deaths. The terrorist groups who have claimed responsibility for vehicular attacks and shown how they are happy through torturing and killing innocent people. Vehicular attack destroys property worth billions (von Münchow & Hantschke, 2017). These injure the economic development of that State, country and also the whole nations. The tension and fear it inflicts to people through influencing their buying behavior and also investors tend to shy away from those state or countries affected. Potential investors who want to invest their money in many different countries have to scrutinize the security of that area and the potential of being attacked in the future. For economic stability to be enjoyed by the various nations in the world, there is a need for advanced security in different areas in the town or city.
