Abraham Lincoln is one person who will forever be considered to be a leader who was a true volunteer in service to others. Lincoln was committed to his work as the sixteenth president of the United States. He felt it was his obligation to serve the citizens of US in the best way possible. He ensured that all the issues that affected individuals were well addressed. He rarely sat in his office waiting for his subordinates to do all the work.
Lincoln inspired leadership by exhibiting characters of a servant leadership, and it has been reported that many leaders always aspire to lead like him. Some of the characters of a servant leader that he exhibited include being democratic where he ensured that he took the time to listen to his subordinates and gave them the opportunity to air their opinions and participate in decision making (Fast Company, 2016).
