Hi! Azikiwe,
What a great post this week! You have done a great job here as I got to learn a lot about e-learning. You are right to mention the aspects of transportation and travel as people do not need these and save time while investing more in the learning process. The lack of human contact is also a great factor as some people want to learn by themselves and e-learning is the perfect source of learning resource for them. Because of e-learning, the learner can know how much to learn and when which is hardly possible in the actual classroom-based learning environment. I understand your reason for choosing both synchronous and asynchronous communication methods. However, implementation of both methods would be critical. I suggest opting for the asynchronous one where all employees would be at the same platform regardless of their pace of learning.

E-learning refers to the learning model where learning occurs remotely using electronic means (Kavanagh et al., 2015). It is applicable in academia and other industries where electronic resources and the internet are available. In essence, it entails teaching and interaction of the learners and the instructor in real-time but in remote locations.
One advantage of e-learning is that it saves time and money. Learners access information and learning materials anytime and anywhere, allowing them to choose what, when, where, and how much is learned (Kavanagh et al., 2015), which means that they do not need to leave their work to learn. As a result, they save both time and money since they learn and work simultaneously. Other advantages of e-learning include consistency, scalability, and the ability to offer personalized learning. However, it has disadvantages, such as limited feedback from the learners and lack of accountability when assessing the learners through online tests.
When developing a new e-learning system for an IT company, I would use an asynchronous e-learning model. The model is appropriate for training the employees in this industry because it is flexible. Considering that workers need time to work and attend the training sessions, it would be appropriate to train them at their convenience. Asynchronous e-learning does not require learners to be in the same classroom or learn at the exact location. They can learn in remote places at different times, provided they have access to electronic resources through the internet. E-learning provides an interactive platform for staff training in the IT industry and other fields (Chang, 2016). Therefore, I would develop a system where the employees can access the electronic resources remotely and interact with the instructors at their own convenient time. I would also need other training modalities, such as face-to-face training for demonstration purposes.

E-learning allows a person to access learning materials through and online platform from many types of devices. The company that I am overseeing is called Community Impact Newspaper, which is a newspaper company that started in Texas and has become popular in about 50 small communities. My objective is to facilitate all 200 employees being properly trained in the next ninety days. The delivery method I have decided on is e- learning and the company will send out information through email or text message with a link to access the material. There will also be access to computers on site for any additional issues or circumstances to use during business hours.
The advantages of using e-learning
Some advantages to e-learning include live data, cost savings, and accesses to information (Kavanagh, Johnson, & Thite 2015). While going through training, this information will be useful to know if information is being understood or needs adjustments. The organization will save money by being able to recycle successful e-learning processes. The option to access the material on many different devices makes the information more readily available and self-paced.
The disadvantages of using e-learning
Some of the disadvantages to e-learning include less traditional structure, technical issues, and understanding the material (Kavanagh, Johnson, & Thite 2015). With less traditional structure the individual is responsible for pacing their progress. With relying on electronics there are many situations that can prevent an individual from accessing the content which could skew timelines. Delivering the content electronically instead of in a face-to-face environment removes the exposure to tribal knowledge and additional knowledge.
If you would use an asynchronous or synchronous e-learning model
The model I chose is asynchronous e-learning based on the structure and flexibility. This method is self-paced and includes discussion forms and emails. Timing is important and being able to execute on timing and allowing individuals to complete the information without delaying others.
If other training modalities would be needed, such as face-to-face, mixed, or other

Thank you for your lovely and comprehensive response, Mecole. I understand that implementing both synchronous and asynchronous learning methods is critical and will be complex than implementing just one of them. Your suggestion of only asynchronous learning to have employees on the same platform regardless of the pace of learning makes a lot of sense. Still, I believe there is a rich exchange of knowledge when learning is done through real-time interactions. I’d still go with a combination of both methods. Still, if it raises complexity, I may limit the frequency of synchronous learning, with its only goal being reinforcing what is learned asynchronously. Once again, thanks for your rich input.
