Leadership Theory & Team Environment
Several factors are important in ensuring the success, productivity and profitability in organizations and entities. One important factor in that regard is leadership. It is vital that firms and institutions that are keen on immense growth for the foreseeable future are built on sound and effective leadership. As such, the aspect of effective leadership is not only a highly sought-after but also valued commodity that many managers strive to acquire and inculcate in their organizations. Leadership according to various individuals is a mechanism that improves both personal and professional lives. I conform to the school of thought not all people can be leaders and that while others are born with the requisite leadership traits there are others who acquire them over time. Similar sentiments are echoed by Northouse (2017) who shares “leadership is the interaction of an individual’s specific personality traits with those of a group, noting that while the attitudes and activities of the many are changed by the one, the many may also influence a leader”. Some of these ideal leadership characteristics include effective communication, integrity, and the ability to motivate, empower and inspire others.
Thirdly, I also define leadership as the ability to direct individuals in groups and get them to accomplish stipulated objectives satisfa...
