Toyota is a company renowned worldwide because of the products and services they offer. However, the Toyota Production System, or the TPS, is one of the key factors of Toyota’s massive success. The system is committed to reducing waste, enhancing efficiency, and continuous development (Alex Berman, 2016; Harris, 2007; Toyota Forklifts, 2016) Since Toyota has become successful in incorporating this system into their manufacturing processes, logistics, and customer relationships, the system has been widely recognized and used by various industries worldwide. TPS is built on the concept of Lean Operations, which aims to reduce waste during the manufacturing process (Lean Enterprise, 2018). The purpose of this paper is to delve deeper into the concept of TPS by examining what causes waste and how to eradicate it.
