Quantitative Strategic Management Planning Matrix commonly referred to as QSPM is a tool used in the final stage when making a decision in formulating a suitable strategy for an organization. It is the best alternative tool in strategic management because the complete information derived from all the three stages by the strategists and based on facts and not assumptions (David & David, 2014). The three most important steps are the input unit, the second stage made up of the TOWS matrix, space model to mention but a few and lastly the QSPM that brings the managers with the analytical methods together to come up with the effective decisions for the organization to achieve its goals (David & David, 2014). This article focuses on the features and limitations in quantitative strategic planning matrix and why it is commonly used and considered to assess alternative marketing ways.
Active features of the quantitative strategic planning matrix
One of the most advantageous features of the QSPM is that it formulates plans evaluated in a sequential manner that is orderly. In a way that, corporate- level plans or strategies at the higher level of an organization are examined first, then secondly the division-level strategies are made and afterward the functional- level plans finally evaluated. Second important characteristic of the QSPM is that it allows planners to combine both crucial external and internal factors that contribute to the decision making. It gives priority to all relationships even though small but is vital to enable the organization to succeed in carrying out its functions; every decision made is suited best for the team (David & David, 2014).
