I had a verbal communication issue with my classmate, who has a self-centered attitude toward his capabilities in research that led to a disagreement. The disagreement negatively affected our performance in the shared assignment leading to a poor grade. Ego is a daily challenge as people become arrogant due to past success. They consider themselves correct all the time, further rejecting opinions from others. Ultimately, they would rather choose not to be supportive than admit they are wrong, further undermining their dignity.
The first strategy for such egoistic misunderstanding is to deal with the profitability of the relationship between us and thus try to keep the communication beneficial. Further acknowledging all the positive contributions, respectfully providing constructive feedback, and asking my partner for a better approach to handling the assignment.
