An increasing number of companies and organizations are becoming diverse with employees from different parts of the world and backgrounds. Consequently, the workplace must be culturally sensitive to ensure that the needs of others can be accommodated to provide acceptable working environments. Leaders must lead by example by ensuring they can adapt to new environments without affecting their effectiveness.
As an authentic leader, it becomes critical to accept the presence of differences in environments or employees in an organization. By accepting them, the leader does not try to impose a commonly used process in such a new environment, thus creating an opportunity for progress (Hsiung, 2012). Furthermore, the cultural context must be put into consideration by the leader to try and understand the backgrounds of new cultures to enable comparison through which he/she can settle on optimum strategies.
