Management is the social process entailing the responsibility for the economic planning and the regulation of a firm’s operations towards achieving set goals. Management is a dynamic process that incorporates four functions; controlling, planning, organizing and actuating. The paper describes planning and organizing as essential functions of management. The paper further discusses the connection between planning and the organization function of management (Certo et.al,2015).
Organizing versus planning
Despite their different meaning, planning and organizing are two key concepts whose elements complement each other. Infarct most organizational managers agree that it is impossible to employ one without the other. It is therefore vital that a manager understands the connection between planning and the organization functions of business so that he or she can quickly implement both concepts to the firm's management setup. According to Certo et.al( 2015), a manager is described as a person who directs and controls the employees. Therefore a manager employs planning to ensure the business procedures are conducted in adherence to the firm's objectives.
Planning can be described as the primary function of management. Planning entails performing research on the issue at hand, the setting goals, objectives regarding the issue and finally establishing steps of achieving that particular goal. The goals set should be precise, measurable, achievable, relevant to the issue at hand and timely.
