Total Quality Management (TQM) is a process that incorporates both employees and management efforts in the continuous improvement in the process of production. On the other hand, Six Sigma is a technique that presents tools to an organization to improve its operations. This paper describes the difference between the two methods and the impacts of poor implementation of TQM.
The Six Sigma method has become more popular in the current management. However, TQM was well established long time ago with enormous success only for Six Sigma to inherit almost all its principles from it. TQM focuses on general improvement of the process using collaborative and cultural approach the challenges while Six Sigma is relatively a more statistical technique driven by data.
