I interviewed one of my friends about his life. I asked him various questions that included.
1 What is your best childhood memory?
2 If you were to select one thing that you are passionate about what would it be?
3 What is the one thing you regret doing or not doing and why?
4 Are you proud and satisfied with what you are doing with your life?
5 What do you love most about our friendship?
The different questions were important in getting to know my friend better and understand the various concepts of the interview process. The first question about his childhood memory was essential in breaking the ice and building rapport for the interview as it was easy to answer and brought out funny memories. An effective and informative interview requires the interviewer to establish trust with the interviewee thereby making them open up (Colwell, Hiscock & Memon, 2002, pp. 292). The second question intended to determine the interviewee’s commitment to the society. The rationale for the third and the fourth questions was to help me learn and understand my friend while the fifth question sought to evaluate the bond and strength of our friendship.
While there is no wrong way of answering interview questions, it is pertinent for one to understand what the questions ask for effective responses. The interviewee in this interview process interpreted the questions accurately as expected. First, he took time before answering each question to understand them. For instance; he realized that question three required a yes or no question while the other questions needed details. Next, he introduced himself by answering question one, discussed his goals in life through question two and also, provided well-though out, accurate, clear and detailed answers.
