The chapter begins with the author having flashbacks of her childhood memories. She vividly remembers a particular tree which she loved dearly. The tree remained green throughout the winter season and that made it stand out from the rest. As she grew older, however, she realized that the tree was capable of making its own food and did not care about her as she earlier thought. When the author was fully grown it was time for her to leave her hometown to go and further her studies in a different location.
The idea of leaving behind all her childhood memories made her realize that even her favorite tree was once a child too. The tree was persistent and it waited patiently for the embryo to develop fully. She compared the life of the tree to that of hers and gave the mistakes and achievements that ha
