When assigned to a long-term international assignment, the first thought that crosses employees' minds: is the salary to be paid. The remuneration depends on the company and the degree of obligation an appointee will bear (Schlepphorst et al., 2020). As an assignee, I would expect the foreign pay to match or surpass the amount I would be paid in my home country when tackling the same job. An increased pay would make me feel that my sacrifice to work away from home is sufficiently compensated despite personal gains and the journey experience.
