You are to use the book Jacobs, F. R. & Chase, R. B. (2018). Operations management for competitive advantage. Boston: Mc-Graw Hill. It is the same book you used when you did my week III case study.

1. You have run a capacity resource profile on your shop. Products have been routed sequentially through resources A, B, C, and D. The capacity resource profile tells you that resource A is scheduled at 95% of capacity, resource B at 80% of capacity, resource C at 130% of capacity, and resource D at 100% of capacity. Assuming that the data we used to calculate the capacity resource profile was accurate, how would you employ the “drum, buffer, rope” thinking?
Your response should be at least 75 words in length.
2. Validation of a simulation involves insuring that the simulation yields “correct” results when compared to the results of the actual real-world system. If this is so, why run simulations at all? Why not just use the results of the actual situation which we obviously already know?
Your response should be at least 75 words in length.
3. What is the difference between finite and infinite loading?
Your response should be at least 75 words in length.
4. What is sub-optimization in scheduling?
Your response should be at least 75 words in length.
5. Discuss the three financial measures a firm uses to determine its ability to make money.
Your response should be at least 75 words in length.
6. You are responsible for an operation that has 12 distinct jobs. Seven of those jobs must be processed in two operations. All seven jobs must go through D and E in that sequence, i.e., D first and then E. Determine the optimal order in which the jobs should be sequenced through the process using the following times:
Job Process D Time Process E Time
1 9 6
2 8 5
3 7 7
4 6 3
5 1 2
6 2 6
7 4
Your response should be at least 75 words in length.
7. A machine shop has two machines, A and B. Four jobs need to be processed through machine A first and B second. Job 1 will take one hour on machine A and three hours on machine B. Job 2 will take three hours on A and two hours on B. Job 3 will take seven on A and three on B. Job 4 will take five hours on A and one hour on B. Using Johnson’s rule, in what order should these jobs be done?
Your response should be at least 75 words in length.
8. Discuss the most common approach to determining the appropriate run length of a simulation.
Your response should be at least 75 words in length.

ASSIGNMENT
1 You have run a capacity resource profile in your shop. Products have been routed sequentially through resources A, B, C, and D. The capacity resource profile tells you that resource A is scheduled at 95% of capacity, resource B at 80% of capacity, resource C at 130% of capacity, and resource D at 100% of capacity. Assuming that the data we used to calculate the capacity resource profile was accurate, how would you employ the "drum, buffer, rope" thinking?
Dream Buffer Rope is also referred to as the DBR. This is a planning scheduling approach that can be derived from the theory of constraints. One of the primary assumptions of this approach is at least one bottleneck in each plant can limit the total output of the plant. For the details provided in the question, the bottleneck process happens at resource C. This means that the overall process happens at bottleneck resource C. Utilization should be increased at resource C to prevent disruptions between Band C. A Rope is a form of communications and it must be at Resource C. The second Rope should be extended from the final goods locations which is the buffer towards Resource C.
2 Validation of simulation involves ensuring that the simulation yields "correct" results when compared to the results of the actual real-world system. If this is so, why run simulations at all? Why not just use the results of the actual situation which we already know?
Simulation is very important in solving real-world problems effectively and safely. It is very important to perform a simulation method because it provides a critical method of analysis that can be communicated and verified easily. In organizations, simulations provide valuable solutions. Further, individuals can analyze and understand how different systems work. Simulation is a cheap, fast, and secure analysis tool (Jacobs & Chase, 2018). This explains why the validation of simulation is important although the actual results can be used.
3 What is the difference between finite and infinite loading
An infinite loading is a planning and scheduling approach that assumes that the due date of each order is absolute. On the other hand, finite is a capacity planning approach that creates a realistic schedule in the process of production than the infinite approach in the short-run (Jacobs & Chase, 2018). One of the primary differences between infinite loading and finite loading is that infinite loading does not regard capacity. Finite loading takes job processing time and current center capacity into account.
4 What is sub-optimization in scheduling?
Sub-optimization can be defined as a process whereby the system, procedures or process yields less than the best possible outcome. This can be caused by a lack of proper conditioning between different elements (Jacobs & Chase, 2018). This is a term that is accepted for a common policy mistake. Sub-optimization focuses on making changes on a certain component to improve. In an organization, sub-optimization works better for one part but ends up creating problems for other parts of the organization.
5 Discuss the three financial measures a firm uses to determine its ability to make money.
