Introduction
Mass media in this case plays a significant role within the society, besides communicating news and events on a day to day basis. Mass media is considered as media that is developed to be consumed by different audiences through the use of technology. This clearly depicts the fact that mass media centers its content around a diverse audience that includes the adults, adolescents and children (Ahluwalia & Sanan, 2016). However, it is essential to note that with the revolution of the world that has turned the society into a small village; the adolescents are known to be vigorous in using the content displayed on media, a factor that is attributed to their evolutionary stage that is concealed with great disorders. During this stage, adolescents are known to enter into a conflict with their parents as a result of their behaviors that are learnt through the media with the purpose of seeking independence. Thesis statement: In as much as the media is viewed as an entity that plays a stimulating and dissatisfying role within the bodies of many youths, its role has resulted to body dissatisfactions that have immensely led to issues such as eating disorders or other bodily dimorphic disorders as illustrated. The main points of this speech are: mass media is mostly blamed for appearance of young people appearance; the influence of mass media is noteworthy; and there are shows which depict violence particularly in the family setting.
2.0 Main Points
The mass media is largely blamed for adolescent appearance. It is clear to depict the fact that the blames directed towards the mass media fails to focus on the nuance and complexities that result out of these disorders (Ahluwalia &Sanan, 2016). According to a recent study, close to 80% of the youths in America watch television daily with this amounting to an average of three hours in a day. This has resulted in the influence of their perceptions in considering what is desirable and normal, a factor that has influence over their appearance.
Many people in the world over have claimed that the adolescents have a negative appearance in all manner of aspects. Some people have gone to say that the youngsters of today have a worse appearance when compared to the adolescents in the past.
