Speech about Being True to Real Self When I am 80 Years Old

Essay Instructions:

Assignment: Imagine you are a very old person at the end of your life and someone is giving a speech in honor of you at your eightieth birthday party. The speaker, influenced by Merton, believes that: “Holiness lies in knowing who God is calling you to be and living that calling regardless of what others think.” Write a 2-sided speech expressing that you are holy because you have lived in accordance to your true self. The speech is to include a minimum of 3 examples of how you have been true to your real self. Obviously, the speech calls for creative writing: After 80 years, how have you lived? What did you do with your life?

As you sit here today, you also see my grandchildren surround me with faces filled with joy. Nothing at this poin...
