The story of an hour by Kate Chopin is a 19th-century story that revolves around the cultural and social questions which occupied a significant portion of American minds. The primary issue was the accepted roles of women in society and was referred to as the “woman Question”. Mrs. Mallard, upon receiving the bad news about the passing on of her husband in the story, her reaction was less the same as that of a woman who has been freed finally from a long time prison (Karori, 2020). Like she has been in a lifetime remand, she got shocked and went silent in disbelief for the reason of overcoming the past life’s emotions and welcoming the new free world that had been presented before her.
