Define Gentrification
Gentrification refers to the process by which developers or investors displace poor and low-income inhabitants of a deteriorating neighbourhood to start fixing or rebuilding houses as well as business. These are constructed to best suit middle income earners alongside high-class people for development and improvement of living standards.
How does this Case Study Demonstrate Gentrification?
Nadege Green highlighted how Rosemont stood under a tree next; some of his neighbors with whom he lived in a two-story small apartment were issued similar eviction letters, in which their landlords had planned to demolish the building (Green, 2019). She further says that upon the native’s reaction to displacement by these investors, they promised to include affordable houses and workforce apartments in their plan. However, the idea was substituted before the project got to be voted by the Miami City Commission, hence promoting the new policy.
