In his article titled Liberty and Slavery in Colonial America, Andrew C. Lannen argues that it is not possible to hear the loud yelp for freedom among the drivers of Negroes and that people’s commitment to individual freedom has nothing to do with reality as they are much into practicing slavery (Lannen, 2017).

A large number of historical works have examined the politics and society of royal periods of Colonial Georgia and the Trustee. In this particular research article, Andrew C. Lannen has tried to bind the themes of two eras together and tends to create a balance between authority and liberty. According to him, the concept of liberty cannot be introduced to people who are happy and satisfied with their slavery. In different parts of the world, authorities impose fines on people who demand freedom of expression (Lannen, 2017).
Colonists were of the view that one of the significant threats to liberty or freedom was the potential for the state to acquire excessive power. In order to ensure the safety and protection of everyone, policymakers implemented different strategies and established rules that acted as a check against the imperial power. At the same time, the Trustees used slavery, trade and land restrictions to dominate the world. For quite a long time, they supported the idea of living under the influence of the government or politicians and favored the economic and political power of Georgia.
