A news article by Chattanoogan (2020) reports of an incident at Chattanooga Metropolitan Airport where the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) detected a loaded firearm in a traveler’s carry-on bag. The TSA alerted the police who confiscated the bag and guided the traveler out of the checkpoint area. In this case, the ban was implemented because it contained a prohibited item, a loaded firearm. According to the article, although passengers are allowed to transport firearms in checked baggage, they are not allowed to do so in carry-on bags.
