The company's primary goal was to attain excellence and had seven main aspects that defined its culture: values, high performance, promotions and development, and context, not control. The approach was attractive to most people for several reasons. A company's values are usually revealed by those who get promoted, rewarded, or let go. According to the talent manager statement, the best thing you can do for the team is hiring "A" performers. Another important aspect was to let go of any talent that was no longer useful to the company, no matter how valuable their services had been at some point. The strategy has been used since 2001 (McCord, 2014).

There are many things that other companies can learn from Netflix. The first tenet was to hire, reward, and tolerate only fully formed adults. The approach was to hire people who placed the interests of the company first. Netflix asked its employees to use logic instead of using the following documented policies. Adult-like behaviors allowed workers to communicate openly with colleagues, bosses, and subordinates. This ensures that issues are addressed case-by-case, and only what makes sense based on context can be applied. All the actions must be done in the best interests of Netflix. Another important aspect was ensuring the truth was being said about the performance. The conversation became part of the organic processes, which allowed the firm to evaluate its progress and make necessary changes are technology evolved. Managers were responsible for creating great teams (McCord, 2014). Workers were allowed to choose how much of their compensation was to be the form of equity.
