According to the American Association of Colleges of Nursing, lifelong learning is a continuous endeavor to pursue knowledge, which promotes social inclusion, active citizenship, personal development, competitiveness, and employability (Sullivan, 2010). Lifelong learning is an important endeavor in a nurse’s professional and personal life. With lifelong learning, individuals can continually update their knowledge base and at, the same time, widen their understanding of the world as it advances. As a nurse, I plan to widen my horizons by building good foundations with many members of the healthcare community through establishing communications and advancing my career through continuing education and volunteerism.
To achieve my goals for lifelong learning, I plan to participate in many seminars and conferences that are geared towards promoting Evidence-Based Practice and innovations that can help the field of nursing.
