Performance is usually measured using behaviors (what employees do) as opposed to employee’s outcomes or results of their work (Bateman & Scott, 2011). However, both behaviors and results are included in performance management systems. Behaviors refer to how the work is done while results refer to the outcomes of the work of a person. The checklist represented in the textbook identify whether the company where I am currently based should measure performance using the behavior, trait or results method.
