English 30-2.

Read the following topic and compose a well organized response based on the play Bethune, by Rod Langley.

Passion is a deep appreciation of anything that is meaningful and worthwhile.  Passion may be found in recognizing a significant need for improvement or in seeking out vivid life experiences.

What is your opinion of the idea that people discover passion and meaning when they are able to connect fully with things that are important?

•The hybrid essay is a combination of both critical and personal reflection.

•Begin your essay with formal introduction

•Compose two body paragraphs

•One paragraph based on textual analysis with a strong focus of theme

•One paragraph based on personal reflection or personal experience with a common focus on theme

•Create a theme based consclusion

You need to provide three different examples to support your point. For each of these examples, there are THREE things that you need to do when you’re providing support:

1.Start with your “point”. This should be a sentence or two, and should reveal that what you say in in your argument is true.

2.Next provide “proof”. This is textual evidence that shows you’re not making things up. You could describe a specific scene, or even better, provide a quotation. For this step, think like a lawyer---pick the BEST evidence.

3.Finally, include your “discussion”. Explain how this example proves that your argument is true. How does it connect to what you said at the beginning of this paragraph and/or your theme?

Your essay will follow the CCR format. In other words, it will use the journey of the character to support your theme statement.

Because of the “pre-planned” nature of your essay, it will make writing easier in your in class essays, and on the diploma.

•a usually short narrative of an interesting, amusing, or biographical incident.

•Discuss the thematic similarity

•Include a summary of the situation

•Discuss the Response the situation

•Culminate with the consequence of the situation

Many people rebelled against a Canadian doctor, as the CBC feared to incur high cost on its establishment of $400,000. The play began when Muriel Sherrin spotted Bethune and suggested to her husband. Therefore, Robert Sherrin chased Donald Sutherland as the only one who could play a central role in the play (Langley, 1975). He chased him on different continents until the age of 75years. He decided to visit the doctor while talking to United States soldiers in 1969 as they shared some perspectives with not only Jane Fonda but also Make Lane. Sutherland agreed to the proposal, but they hand to postpone the film because the doctor was not available.
In 1977, the doctor had a break of 5 five weeks, and it was during this period that the play had to take place. Despite the limited time, he came with his rules that...
