The first article included in this review is focused on the orientation programs designed for the newly employed registered nurses (Schaar, Titzer, & Beckham, 2015). It was proposed that the combination of practice competencies and academic practices would promote patient safety and improve education for new nurses. They proposed an intervention model “Quality and Safety Education for Nurses” (QSEN) for designing and delivering the “onboarding orientation model” for newly employed registered nurses. The QSEN model served as the orientation template to the onboarding of new adjunct clinical employees, which decreased the role-transition stressors.
Article 2
This article involves the new nurse graduates of the generic baccalaureate nursing program by examining the confidence, concerns, and fears of these nurses on the beginning of their clinical practice (Cowen, Hubbard, & Hancock, 2016). They recruited 96 junior nurses who were inquired regarding their clinical concerns and fears as well as the confidence in the physical assessments. The results indicated that they were afraid of making clinical mistakes, bad experience with the mentor, uncomfortable patient experience, and lack of confidence in the physical assessments.
