Nature Vs. Nurture: Influence Throughout The Lifespan
By now, you have undoubtedly noticed that one of the primary arguments that occur in the field of psychology is over the influence of "Nature versus Nurture." It may have been a little while since you completed an Introductory Psychology course, so let's review nature versus nurture and relate it to human development.
Nature is your genetics (what you were born with - your predispositions / natural tendencies).
Nurture is your environment (parents, family, culture, schools you attended, experiences, etc.)
What are your general thoughts on the influence of nature versus nurture throughout the lifespan (or in other words, which do you feel is a stronger influence on our development - Nature or Nurture?)?
Cover this discussion topic in 3 areas ...
Which do you think is the bigger influence (nature or nurture) at the following ages:
0 - 20
20 - 40
40 - the end of your life
Touch on how the influences of nature and nurture change as you age. Be sure to consider things such as:
1. The way in which genetics can play a role in the development of diseases
2. How babies are born with different temperaments
3. We all have different life experiences
4. Cultural influences etc.
You do not have to include all four of those points. I am just giving examples of variables to consider here.
Pleasure ensure that your paper is at least one page in length (double-spaced).
