Therefore, mental health is significant in the life stage from childhood to adulthood. Mental health is portrayed in a 1997 American psychological drama film called movie Good Will Hunting. This movie depicts mental health professionalism and ethics.
The Good Will Hunting movie, produced in December 1997, portrays a brilliant young man named Will Hunting who was struggling with post-traumatic stress disorder (PSTD) due to abandonment and abuse. Even though he is least welcome, Dr. Lambeau is a character who narcissistically projects himself into others. Lambeau is a math professor who realizes Will’s sharp ability in solving the most difficult questions and realizes Will could be a great mathematician. However, the professor also realizes Will’s mental health situation. Will cannot connect to five psychologists, a situation that prompts Professor Lambeau to call his friend and therapist, Dr. Sean, to help save Will’s situation (Sant, 1997). Sean eventually can go through Will and his holistic and sarcastic defense mechanisms. Therapist Sean impeccably executes the not-so-obvious and flagrant therapeutic maneuvers; he emphasizes relationship over technique. Sean uses confrontation, self-disclosure, and wisdom techniques as a way of challenging Will’s opposition to grow into the person he was predestined to be.
