Overview of three key theories related to reading and writing processes and development across content areas

The importance of integrating literacy 
Literacy is a very important area that crosses all the curriculum contents. If students do not have a mastery of writing and reading, then they will always struggle to demonstrate what they have learned in other content areas. In this case, teachers are supposed to incorporate literacy skills into their curriculum and also assess the students regularly to support their learning. Interdisciplinary literacy involves all the efforts teachers take to apply principles, knowledge, values to more than one academic discipline concurrently. Interdisciplinary literacy involves giving students some tools to function within and across contents. In education, interdisciplinary literacy gives students vast opportunities to cultivate their education environment. Therefore the interdisciplinary approach is a curriculum approach that enables educators to apply language and methodology in more than one discipline to evaluate the central issue, theme, topic, work or problem (Veach, 2018). This is one of the major ways to learn throughout the curriculum. When educators might consider delivering the objectives of a curricular and the needs of the students, they may choose to interdisciplinary learning to deliver everything in the content area. This method brings the students new knowledge of the connections that are found between different disciplines. In contemporary education, fluency is the ability to read with accuracy, proper expression, and speed. Students who have issues with decoding skills are supposed to practice more with velvetiness and speed in reading.
