Language is indeed one of the essential commodities in terms of international trade. Due to the consistent increase in globalization and commoditization in the international arena, it has become inevitable for businesses not to undergo any corporate transaction overseas and even in multiple countries at the same time. This is the reason why I agree with you in your discussion about the importance of language as a commodity. Some illustrative cases where a common language is crucial is in the case of international deals and partnerships. Almost all international partnerships forged between requires contracts that must always be strictly construed on how it is worded. Thus, since these contracts usually involve billions of dollars in transactions, it is just necessary to have it worded so that all parties can be aware of what it meant in the first place.
Another aspect that I agree with you about is the change of the common language used in international business transactions. Today, Chinese firms dominate some of the industries in the world and have become a major supplier and producer of various raw materials, goods, and services. As such, Chinese can become one of the main languages that would be used in the global arena in the future to come.
